When I'm Not Playing Live Music...
As a producer, composer and music supervisor for commercials I've earned an Emmy Award, a London International Advertising Award, and other accolades. I've had the good fortune of singing on enough commercials over my career to become a vested SAG-AFTRA Union member. My client list reads like a Fortune 500 index fund. I have a guitar signed by Johnny Cash from our work together for Sears. And once, on a magical day working on another Sears project with BB King in Amsterdam, BB insisted I hold Lucille. She was heavy. More on that side of my life at my company website: deepmix.com
In 2009 I started the weekly Wine & Song concert series to present the music I love to the community I love. The venue was a wine bar where I signed on to do eight Wednesday night shows. A few venues and over 500 shows later, the Wine & Song series lives on, currently in podcast form, and has become known to artists far and wide for the enthusiastic audiences that lean in to every word.
In 2015, I found a nearly abandoned room at the Arroyo Seco Golf Course which, with the help of a few patrons, was converted to an intimate club now called the Blue Guitar room. The following year I added a weekly Thursday night Jazz at the Blue Guitar show. More on the Blue Guitar at blueguitar.club
For ten years I have been Music Director of the annual South Pasadena Eclectic Music Festival. I've had the pleasure of presenting Ozomatil, Gin Blossoms, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Young Dubliners, Dave Alvin, Chis Hillman, Eliza Gilkyson and hundreds of other acts. The Eclectic is a free event to the public put on by the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. Check out the video montage below.
