Singer-songwriter Brad Colerick was born in Valentine, Nebraska in the heart of Cherry County. The county's population density is one person per square mile — significantly less than that of cattle. Colerick spent his formative years in Lincoln where he attended the University of Nebraska studying both music and business. After playing clubs and writing jingles at a studio for a number of years, he packed up his VW Jetta with everything that would fit and headed to Los Angeles to pursue music in a bigger setting. After some lean years he found success making music for such clients as Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Budweiser, and Sears. The ad campaigns afforded him opportunities to work alongside some iconic artists such as BB King and Johnny Cash (whose signature adorns one of Colerick’s prized guitars.) He produced music for an Emmy-winning campaign for the Illinois Department of Transportation, and another piece he penned for the Illinois Lottery (sung by blues legend Buddy Guy) won a London International Advertising Award. After a nearly 20 year hiatus from making records, Colerick returned to his roots as a troubadour and released Cottonwood in 2005. Since then he has toured the country and released four subsequent albums: Lines In The Dirt, When I’m Gone, Tucson, and his latest — Nine Ten Thirty, a love letter to his town of South Pasadena where he lives with his wife and two kids. The weekly Wine & Song concert series he has hosted since 2009 has shifted to podcast form for the time being and can be found on most podcast platforms.
